TERRY FOX RUN
Our Terry Fox Run on Thursday September 26th was a huge success! This was the National School Run day across Canada. It was a wonderful community-building opportunity for everyone! We feel fortunate that our children had an opportunity to take part in a run that honors our everyday heroes- like Terry Fox himself! Together we raised $ for the Terry Fox Foundation for the Cancer research.

We started out our day with a special assembly that included a few of our grade 3/4 students sharing “Terry’s words” (excerpts from his daily journal) as well we had four students share who they were running for. We also watched a video piece that helped us learn more about Terry Fox and the difference we can all make. We had our grade 5/6 students helping throughout the day as leaders and witnessed many examples of students working together to support each other and the purpose of our Terry Fox Run. In total, our school community ran 1700 kilometers! That means we took Terry Fox from Thunder Bay (where he had to stop) all the way to Medicine Hat, Alberta (check out the map of Canada in our hallway to see our route along with pictures from our day)!

Thank you to parents who were able to join us outside for our run or at our assembly. Just as Terry Fox believed; when we work together miracles do happen!
