Exhibition

Thank you, students, for sharing your knowledge with your families and being so enthusiastic about your learning! I am so proud of you all! We had a great night!

Calgary Elementary School Mathematics Contest (CESMC)

This year the grade 4's will be participating along with the grade 5/6's in the CESMC hosted by Mount Royal University.  We will register the students, so there is no need for you to worry about this. Practice questions and further information is available on their website (http://blogs.mtroyal.ca/cesmc/). The students are very excited to give it a try!

Here is an introduction about the contest sent from MRU:

Calgary Elementary School Mathematics Contest (CESMC) is a mathematical contest organized annually by the Department of Mathematics and Computing, Mount Royal University. We are pleased to invite you to enter your students in the ninth annual contest scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, for this year.
The contest will primarily be for Grade 4, 5, and 6 students attending elementary schools in Calgary and surrounding areas. The contests are divided into two levels: Level 1 and Level 2. Grade 6 students will write the Level-2 contest. Grade 4 and 5 students may write the Level-1 contest (or the Level-2 contest if they are very good in math and would like to challenge themselves). The contest will be written by the participants in their own school under the supervision of their schoolteachers. The answer sheets then will be mailed to the organizers and they will be marked by the organizers.
The contest is 50 minutes long and consists of 20 questions ranging from easy (Part A) to more difficult (Part C). For each question, there will be 4 possible answers with one correct answer. Students are required to select the correct answer.
It is important to know that this is not an examination. There is no passing or failing grade. The goal of the contest is to try to develop an interest in mathematics in students by encouraging their participation in mathematical activities. We hope that all students who will prepare for and participate in the contest will enjoy themselves and benefit from the experience.

Thank you very much for your interest in the contest.

Valentine's Cards

Room 12 voted to have some time to exchange Valentine's cards rather than do an activity. Tomorrow at the end of the day time will be given for cards to be distributed to each student in our class. We have asked that they bring cards already prepared, and that does not include gifts, such as candy or pencils since this can cause some tears when they go missing or potential allergic reactions.

Your child is not expected to give out cards, only invited to if they choose. Below is a list of all the first names of the students so that everyone is included.
